I will never forget the moment when I found out that I was among the students participating in the internship. I was very happy that at the end of the second year, I could participate in the exchange program.
I am Tamar Dandurishvili, a third-year
student of TMA. I spent the past month in Klaipeda, Lithuania, where I
completed a clinical internship at the Klaipeda University Clinic, In the
Department of General and Robotic Surgery.
I, the assistant of a Surgeon
It was a turning point in my life. I saw practically what I learned during the previous semesters, I attended many operations and I was lucky to be a surgical assistant in the operation, which was very exciting at first time because I was directly involved in saving the patient's life, it was a great experience and opportunity for me. It further deepened my knowledge and gave me studying motivation.
I met doctors who answered all my questions in detail and tried to explain as much as possible all the procedures they performed, the operations were so interesting that the 4-5 hours spent there did not seem to pass, there was a wonderfully friendly environment in the department, the surgeons treated me like a colleague, which made the time spent in the clinic even more pleasant. I liked the staff's attitude towards Georgia, when they found out that I was Georgian, they were pleased and wanted to learn more about Georgia.
My free time and white nights
Except for the time spent in the clinic, the second half of the day and the weekends were no less interesting and varied, when I spent the time after leaving the clinic in the city and its surroundings. Klaipeda is a small and cozy city, where you can walk all the time and discover something new and interesting at every step, each object in it is different and unique. This is a city where classical music is heard in many places, unexpectedly and appropriately for the place, which makes the city even more effective. While walking, I often remembered the fairy tales described in books and seen in my imagination. During the stay in Klaipeda, there were "white nights’’, there was no darkness even at night in the city.
Most importantly, I made many new friends, which made my time in Klaipeda even more fun, I remember walking with them on the streets, cities, cafes, museums, and the beach every evening.
From the moment of arrival, I noticed that I had grown personally and my knowledge become deep. This one month will always remain my best memory, and this experience will have a huge impact on my career.
