Berlin Medical Harmony
Berlin Medical Harmony
I am Mariam Jorbenadze, a third-year student at Tbilisi Medical Academy. In the sixth semester, I participated in the integrated research project of Berlin Charite University and Tbilisi Medical Academy - "The Role of HPV in Cancer in Georgia". Within the framework of the project, we selected six students who were at Charite University for a week.During this period, it was as if we stopped our daily routine and followed the rhythm of life there. We started the morning by meeting and discussing the purpose of our project, after which we had the opportunity to visit laboratories, clinical departments, and medical universities.
For me, as a medical student, it was very important and interesting to talk about topics that are related to my future profession and allow me to see medicine from a wider perspective. As for the project, human papillomavirus is a known risk factor for several types of cancer, and their cases are increasing in Georgia at this stage, which makes this research project particularly relevant and noteworthy for the public.
During our stay in Berlin, we spent most of our time at Charité University. From the first day, I was fascinated by the unique environment of the university. The architecture was a delightful mix of modern innovation and timeless grandeur, but Charite's appeal went beyond its aesthetic appeal. Daily discussions, workshops, and curated seminars re-energized me and broadened my horizons. But perhaps the most attractive aspect of Charete was the friendliness and motivation of the students and lecturers. It was very important for me to see what purposeful students study there and how lecturers help students to realize their aspirations.
In addition to Charité, we also had the opportunity to spend time at the Medical University of Berlin. The vibrant campus of the Medical University of Berlin was a dynamic blend of knowledge, diversity, and academic freedom.
From the moment I arrived, I was fascinated by the diverse environment of Berlin. The city's bustling urban landscape co-existed harmoniously with its commitment to nature conservation. The seamless integration of the city's infrastructure and nature left an indelible impression on me. Berlin was living proof of the idea that progress should not come at the expense of nature.
As my week-long trip drew to a close, I realized that I had undergone a huge transformation. The beauty of Charite University not only captivated my senses but also instilled in me an insatiable thirst for knowledge. Charite will forever remain in my memories as a place of beauty, amazement, and inspiration that for a week became a cherished chapter in my life story.
