Harmonious Coexistence of Colorful Cultures
Harmonious Coexistence of Colorful Cultures

I’m Lasha Agulashvili and I am studying in the 5th year of Tbilisi Medical Academy. The Erasmus+ exchange program gave me a chance to study for one semester at Vilnius University (Lithuania).

Upon arrival, I had to choose subjects and groups on my own. During my stay in Vilnius, I studied seven subjects: Critical Medicine, Forensic Medicine, Pediatrics, Neonatology, Infectious Diseases, Dermatovenerology, Nephrology, Urology, Ophthalmology, Rheumatology, and Gerontology. During my studies, I had constant communication with the coordinator of Vilnius University.

Listening to recorded lectures online was a new experience for me. Most of the workshops included practical work. At each seminar, along with new material, we also met relevant patients, which made it easier to remember the theoretical knowledge.

Final exams were always held in test form at the exam center. We were introduced to the material and syllabus at the beginning of the seminar. Before the exam, the lecturers tried to focus only on the topics given in the tests.

Ophthalmology was the most exciting subject for me. At the seminars, we learned about eye anatomy and diseases. Also, we attended surgical operations and performed eye examinations on patients with special equipment.

During my studies in Vilnius, I visited many sights, and some of them left an indelible impression on me. Among them, I would single out the Gediminas’ Tower, with its elegant columnar arches and graceful windows. I think the Gediminas’ Tower gives the cathedral standing next to it an inimitable delicacy.

My university gave me the opportunity to get European education. The exchange program improved my English language skills, I traveled to different countries and got to know their culture. I made many international friends. Each new friend I met left an indelible impression on my consciousness. I can confidently say that my adventure turned out to be a harmonious coexistence of colorful cultures.
