My Unforgettable Exchange Semester
My Unforgettable Exchange Semester
My Unforgettable Exchange Semester

I am Nino, a 5th-year student of TMA.

My university gave me an incredible opportunity to spend a semester at Vilnius University in Lithuania with the help of Europe's best Erasmus+ program.

The excitement started as soon as I saw the results of the selection because receiving  European education is as exciting as it is associated with many difficulties. I had to choose subjects and groups upon arrival, which was quite a stressful process. However, it is worth noting that constant communication with the coordinator at Vilnius University helped me overcome this difficulty.

The learning process at Vilnius University was completely practical and the final assessment was a test. During the semester, I had the opportunity to assist the lead surgeon in the Nephrology Department and attend online workshops through which I gained a lot of experience. I especially enjoyed the neonatology and pediatrics seminars, because even after the time allotted for the seminar, I could stay in the clinic and deepen my practical experience with the rarest cases.

As for the activities outside the university, the process of choosing subjects and arranging the schedule lasted about two weeks, after which I actively started participating in social activities. One of these activities was participation in the events organized by the Erasmus Student Network (ESN), with the help of which I first tried Kayaking, Karting, etc. In these projects, I managed to get to know many international students, with whom I am still in daily contact. In addition, I participated in various sports competitions and quizzes, where my team even managed to take a prize.

During the exchange program, we had various holidays, which my friends and I celebrated together, one of them was the Easter game. We always prepared our national dishes every holiday, which helped me virtually travel to my friends' countries and get to know their cuisine. However, we didn't necessarily need holidays to celebrate something, we managed to do it ourselves by planning karaoke or dance nights, picnics, barbecue parties, excursions, and visits to other European countries.

One of the goals set during my stay in Lithuania was to promote the development of Georgian tourism, which I was able to do by sharing pictures of the history and landscapes of Georgia. I also made Khachapuri for my friends and group members, who liked it so much that they wanted me to teach them how to cook it on their own. One of them even fell in love with Georgia through the stories and the cuisine so much that he decided to come with me and discover the place by himself. One visit is not enough to discover Georgia, that's why he and my other friends have already planned the next trip to our country.

In the end, I believe that the program gave me the opportunity to develop both professionally and personally. I think the experience gained, will surely help me plan my career path.

I want to thank my university for this opportunity because the spring semester of 2022 is an example for me of how the tiny room I saw on the first day turned into a place of comfort and relaxation for lots of friends.
