At Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA), diversity, inclusion, and equality are virtues reflected in both our mission and institutional culture. Our student-centered environment is built on an educational approach with an emphasis on that places students’ needs, interests, and abilities, while actively encouraging their engagement and participation. This commitment is reinforced through student representation in key academic governance structures, including the Curriculum Committee and the Advisory Board.

TMA builds a truly international academic community. We create spaces that naturally attract and support cultural diversity—communities that continue to grow through student initiative and leadership. Today, the Academy provides quality education to students from nearly 50 countries, including more than 700 international students and approximately 450 Georgian students, thus making TMA a multicultural higher education institution in Georgia.

Our inclusive environment is rooted in the principles of equal opportunity, respect for diversity, and non-discrimination. This includes both accessible infrastructure and flexible, student-centered teaching approaches that recognize different learning needs, backgrounds, and capacities.

TMA finds its inspiration from the vibrant city of Tbilisi, known for its openness, cultural richness, and longstanding tradition of hospitality. The diversity of Tbilisi—and the global backgrounds of our students and faculty—creates an ideal environment for building a connected academic community.

At TMA, diversity is not only about representation. Building a diverse community and achieving more equitable outcomes requires deliberate and continuous effort.

In support of this mission, TMA’s Institutional Culture Development Department plays a key role in promoting academic integrity, ethical values, and social responsibility. It ensures adherence to the Code of Ethics and the involvement of TMA’s academic and administrative staff, as well as students, in community activities. The Department supports students in developing cultural awareness, professional confidence, and career readiness, while also strengthening medical empathy and reinforcing the understanding of medicine as a public good—grounded in service, responsibility, and care for communities.
