Haisham Ahmed

Program: Medicine in English
Semester: 10th semester

Biography

I’m Haisham Ahmed, currently a 10th-semester medical student. I was born and raised in Saudi Arabia, where I was always the person organizing events and activities at school. I served as Head Boy for one year and Sports Captain for two years. Football has always been my greatest passion, and I had the opportunity to represent my school at national-level competitions. The competitive spirit and teamwork I developed through sports have stayed with me ever since.

Since moving to Georgia for university, I have built a diverse social network and formed connections with students from many different universities. I genuinely enjoy socializing, networking, and hearing people’s stories. When I’m not immersed in medical studies, I pursue photography and videography. One of my favorite experiences has been concert photography, where I have had the opportunity to capture performances by well-known artists in southern India. What started as a hobby has become one of my favorite ways to express creativity, clear my mind, and preserve meaningful memories.

Medicine has been my dream for as long as I can remember because helping others has always been an important part of who I am. Seeing someone improve because of the care and effort you provide is one of the most rewarding feelings imaginable. Balancing demanding clinical rotations with creative hobbies and an active social life has not always been easy, but it has taught me valuable lessons in time management, responsibility, and adaptability.

I believe that being a good doctor requires more than academic success. It requires empathy, teamwork, communication, and leadership. These are qualities I have developed through sports, personal experiences, and my journey in medicine, and they are the same qualities I hope to bring to the role of Student Representative.

Action Plan

I’ve been thinking about taking on this position for a long time, but I wanted to make sure I truly had what it takes to lead and handle the responsibility. I believe I am ready now.

My main goal is to make our university a place where students do not just study, but genuinely enjoy their student life. Medical school can be incredibly stressful, and I believe we need a positive environment where students can relieve that stress through social, sports, and cultural activities. University should be a place where we can learn, grow, and relax together.

As a medical university, I want to place a strong emphasis on medicine while making learning more engaging and enjoyable. Over the next year, I would like to establish medicine-related clubs that allow students to learn beyond the classroom. I hope to organize practical workshops on skills such as basic surgical suturing, first aid, and emergency response, giving students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience early in their medical education. I would also like to introduce guest lectures from experienced physicians and clinical quiz competitions to make learning more interactive and motivating.

Outside of academics, I want to help students socialize, build connections, and feel more involved in university life. I would like to support the creation of student-led clubs based on shared interests, such as photography, music, dance, and other hobbies that students are passionate about. I also hope to expand sports activities on campus by organizing regular football tournaments, leagues, and other sporting events that encourage teamwork and healthy competition.

Of course, the focus will not be limited to football. I would also like to organize cultural events, food festivals, and casual music nights where students can relax, celebrate diversity, and meet new people outside the classroom.

Ultimately, it is all about balance. I want to ensure that our university experience is about more than simply passing exams. It should be about building a supportive, welcoming community where every student feels included, valued, and connected. I am fully committed to working hard to help make that vision a reality.
