In 2014 - Two articles published in „Nature“ by Haruko Obokata and his colleagues, caught the attention of the world scientific community. The authors presented a surprisingly simple method of transforming a differentiated cell into a pluripotent stem cell. However, the originality of the data presented in the mentioned publications has been doubted. An investigation by Haruko's employer, the RIKEN Center for Developmental Biology (Kobe, Japan), found academic misconduct. Haruko Obokata was stripped of her doctorate and her career ended.
October 18 is the International Day of Action for Academic Integrity. To celebrate it Tbilisi Medical Academy held the thematic intellectual game "What? Where? When?" and the screening and discussion of episodes of the movie "The Words".
