TMA hosted representatives of the “Memory Cafe”, which is a project that was created by young people, the project aims to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease within the society. The meeting was held at the initiative of the Alzheimer’s Club, a student club at TMA dedicated to the same issue, where the concept of the project and its role in improving existing approaches to Alzheimer’s disease were discussed.
According to Barbare Gakharia, co-founder of the “Memory Café”, medical students, and in particular, members of the TMA Alzheimer’s Club, are one of the most important people who can help in disseminating such information correctly. “If club members are interested in the “Memory Cafe” initiative, our cafe initiative group will potentially grow and more community members will be able to benefit from the events and meetings we plan. We mean both patient support, as well as involving people with dementia in various activities, socialization in the cafe environment, etc. We hope that in the future TMA students will join us and we will jointly implement similar activities,” noted Barbare Gakharia.
