Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) hosted Professor James Connor, a distinguished professor at the Penn State College of Medicine (Pennsylvania State University), who delivered a public lecture on the topic of “How Iron Affects the Healthy Brain” to an audience of students, academic staff, and invited staff.
During the lecture, Professor Connor discussed the role of iron in neurobiological processes, its significance in the proper functioning of a healthy brain, and the potential impact of this element on the development and progression of neurological disorders. He presented recent research findings and explored the mechanisms by which iron contributes to brain metabolism and neurogenesis.
The public lecture was held within the framework of international scientific collaboration and aimed to engage students and academic community members in international scientific discourse.
