On June 15-16 Petre Shotadze Tbilisi Medical Academy hosted event, organized by IFMSA Committee for Human Rights and Peace (SCORP). The main objective of the event was to raise awareness of future doctors towards gender biased prenatal sex selection and discrimination and encourage dissemination of information among peers.
The informational lecture, led by Assistant Representative of UNFPA in Georgia, Mrs. Lela Bakradze, was attended by students and administration of TMA, as well as medical students from other universities.In the frames of the project, students got familiarized with ongoing projects and observed trends related to issue. After the lecture students had opportunities to exercise their opinions and participate in interactive Q&A.
On June 16, members of committee, led by TMA International Faculty student, Tekla Gelovani, visited several Universities of Tbilisi and TMA affiliated Maternity Hospital “House of Health”, where they distributed informational material and mixed color baby accessories.
