A workshop was held for students interested in cardiology by Associate Professor at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA), cardiologist Dr. Ana Rekhviashvili. The speaker discussed the paths to becoming a cardiologist and presented various interesting clinical cases.
During the meeting, students worked on the interpretation of electrocardiography (ECG), echocardiography, and at the end an intellectual game Kahoot was also held.
The workshop raised special interest among the participants, as the meeting included not only the theoretical part, but also a practical experience. Students were given the opportunity to receive recommendations and discuss the challenges that future cardiologists face when taking their first steps on their professional path.
The event was organized by TMA students — Gvantsa Omiadze (Director of the Georgian Students’ Cardiology Association), Lika Kekelidze (co-founder), and Papuna Sirbiladze (co-founder); the association has already passed official registration and obtained the status of a non-governmental organization.
During the meeting, the students shared with their peers the mission and goals of the association. In particular, the association’s goal is to unite students interested in cardiology, promote education and develop research and educational activities.
After the event, the participants shared positive feedback:
“It is very good and interesting; they discuss topics that are relevant and necessary for cardiologists to know.”
“I expect more interesting activities— raising awareness about the treatment guidelines of diseases and their etiology.”
The participants said that such events increase their motivation and interest in cardiology, so they are very eager to continue such activities in the future.
The association's motto is: Unite, Learn, Create, and Grow — Together for the Heart!
