These publications reflect the TMa’s growing contribution to global medical research and highlight the impact of research conducted by our academic staff.
1. Mental Health and Well-being of Physicians in Georgia
Article: Work-life realities of doctors in Georgia and their impact on mental health and work-related well-being: A cross-sectional study
Journal: PLOS ONE (United States)
Journal Metrics:
- Scimago Quartile: Q1
- SJR: 0.726
- 5-Year Impact Factor: 3.2
This study investigated the impact of the work environment on the mental health and professional well-being of physicians in Georgia. The findings demonstrated that the prevalence of stress and depressive symptoms among physicians is significantly higher than among professionals in non-medical occupations and varies across medical specialties. The study also identified significant associations between workload, years of professional experience, sex, marital status, and indicators of psychosocial well-being.
These findings underscore the importance of implementing targeted, specialty-specific preventive and organizational interventions to promote physicians' professional well-being and support a healthier healthcare workforce.

This publication presents the results of a doctoral research project funded by the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia. The first author is Dr. Ana Jibladze, who successfully completed her residency training at Tbilisi Medical Academy in 2026. Professor Elene Asanidze is the second author of the paper and served as the supervisor of the doctoral research.
The study evaluated clinical, hormonal, genetic, and imaging findings to develop an integrated diagnostic approach for individuals with differences in sex development (DSD). By combining multiple diagnostic modalities, the proposed approach facilitates the accurate differentiation of complex clinical presentations, improves diagnostic precision, and supports more effective patient management.
