TMA Confers Doctor Honoris Causa upon Professor Victor Manuel Arce Vazquez

Tbilisi Medical Academy has conferred the degree of Doctor Honoris Causa upon Professor Victor Manuel Arce Vazquez, Full Professor of Medical Physiology at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), recognizing his distinguished contribution to medical education, scientific collaboration, and the international development of TMA.

The honorary degree celebrates not only Professor Arce Vazquez’s remarkable academic career, but also his important role in strengthening the partnership between TMA and USC. Under this collaboration, the two institutions have participated in major Erasmus+ initiatives, including SAFEMED, LIFESTRAND, and VITAL, promoting faculty leadership, digital competences, research excellence, virtual exchange, and international mobility.

Professor Arce Vazquez has an extensive academic record, including 75 publications in JCR-indexed journals, an h-index of 25, 48 books and book chapters, 17 supervised PhD theses, 57 final degree theses, and participation in 40 funded research projects. Since 2012, he has led the Chair of Medical Education at USC, contributing to competency-based education, medical assessment, and quality in education.

His collaboration with TMA extends beyond institutional partnerships. He has contributed to the Academy’s doctoral education as a member of the PhD Commission and has supported scientific cooperation through projects such as PulmoPhages and the Micro World science-popularization initiative.

For TMA, the conferral represents a celebration of a partnership built on academic excellence, innovation in medical education, scientific collaboration, and international engagement.
