At Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA), diversity, inclusion, and equality are virtues reflected in both our mission and institutional culture. Our student-centered environment is built on an educational approach with an emphasis on that places students' needs, interests, and abilities, while actively encouraging their engagement and participation. This commitment is reinforced through student representation in key academic governance structures, including the Curriculum Committee and the Advisory Board.

A number of projects are implemented within the framework of the third mission of TMA — social responsibility. Such projects are aimed at increasing the sense of social responsibility among students and, at the same time, promoting the development of Georgian society.

Flagship project

Six Days of Country Doctor

Does the concurrence of medicine and art provide understanding of complex issues, such as medical professionalism? To provide an answer, TMA delivered an innovative transdisciplinary photography project for students under the title "Six Days of Country Doctor".

Within the project, six students participated in an expedition in the Adjara highlands — Skhalta, Ghorjomi, and Khulo — where they shadowed and documented local village doctors. The initiative raises public awareness of physicians working in the highlands and motivates young physicians to work in rural areas.

At the final stage, an exhibition was held and a magazine was published compiling the students' photos and collected stories. TMA continues to cooperate with doctors participating in the project and has held several trainings with their participation.

The transdisciplinary project continued in 2023 in Guria, in villages of Chokhatauri Municipality, documenting doctors' daily life and work on film.

Important social projects

Students for Children

Every Saturday, TMA students visit the social enterprise Babale, where they take part in various activities with beneficiary children, including art therapy.

Students for the Elderly

Our students often visit nursing homes and brighten residents' days with various activities.

Pink October

TMA has been cooperating with Europa Donna Georgia for almost three years. Students participate in awareness-raising campaigns, drawing competitions, workshops, and art therapy.

GO GREEN Campaign

At the initiative of TMA's Eco Club, the GO GREEN campaign promotes a green policy at TMA, environmental information sharing, and cooperation with Vegan Georgia.
