At Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA), diversity, inclusion, and equality are virtues reflected in both our mission and institutional culture. Our student-centered environment is built on an educational approach with an emphasis on that places students' needs, interests, and abilities, while actively encouraging their engagement and participation. This commitment is reinforced through student representation in key academic governance structures, including the Curriculum Committee and the Advisory Board.
In accordance with the institutional vision, Petre Shotadze Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) has been offering students a grant program to support social and cultural projects since 2024. The goal of the competition is in line with the Academy's mission so that by supporting innovative projects and applying evidence-based knowledge in practice, students can contribute to improving public health.
The program is implemented by TMA's Department of Institutional Culture Development and is managed by a specially selected committee that consists of representatives of the cultural, arts, business, non-governmental, public and educational sectors, as well as experts in the medical field. This multidisciplinary approach promotes the involvement of professionals from different fields in the activities of the Academy, the strengthening of inter- and trans-disciplinary initiatives, and the effectiveness of the assessment and management of grant projects.
The goal of proposals submitted within the framework of the grant program must correspond to one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations and be consistent with the areas outlined in the Strategic Development Plan. When evaluating projects, special attention is paid to their relevance and innovation.
As a result of the competition announced in 2024, nine project proposals were submitted, of which five winning projects were selected by the multidisciplinary committee.
All winning projects are aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (3, 4, 6, 11, 13, 15, 17) and fully consistent with TMA's third mission โ to serve society. The winning projects were implemented in 2025.
