Department of Anatomy / Histology / Embryology

Ia Khakhutaishvili holds the academic position of an Associated Professor at TMA from 2017, as well as serves as the Head of the Anatomy/Histology/Embryology Department.
Dr. Khakhutaishvili has graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the Institute of Critical Medicine  in 2002. In 2006 she completed a postgraduate degree at the A. Natishvili Institute of Experimental Morphology, with specialization in “Anatomy”.  Also, during 2006 she was awarded with a PhD in Medical Sciences in internal diseases. Dr. Khakhutaishvili holds state certificates in following medical specializations: „Internal Medicine “  and „Cardiology“.
Ia Khakhutaishvili has published 27 scientific works, is contributing co-author of 2 handbooks and translation editor of 1 handbook.
In order to ensure continuous professional development, she attends and takes active participation at both national and international conferences.

    From 2019 onwards, Salome Khubulava holds the academic position of an Assistant towards directions of Anatomy/Histology/Embryology at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA).
    In 2010 she graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Tbilisi State Medical University, following which at the same University, underwent a postgraduate residency programme under specialization “Endocrinology” during 2011-2014.
    Currently she is a doctoral student at the Faculty of Clinical and Translational Medicine of Tbilisi State University, and PhD researcher at the Alexander Natishvili Institute of Morphology.
    Salome Khubulava has successfully accomplished and finalized PhD grant project under title  - “Creating Selenium Nanoparticle Suspension and Determining its Efficiency for Experimental Treatment of Diabetes Mellitus induced Vascular Complications” within frames of Shota Rustaveli National Scientific Foundation grant opportunities.
    So far, Salome Khubulava has published 5 scientific papers, 4 of which are in international peer-reviewed journals. In terms of professional development, she regularly participates within conferences both at national and international levels, as well as attends trainings and various workshops. She is also actively involved in scientific-research processes and international mobility programmes at some of leading universities and laboratories.

    Department of Genetics

    Ekaterina Kldiashvili holds a MSc in Biology (Cell Biology, 1995) and Ph.D. in Histology, Cytology and Embryology (2003) from the Tbilisi State University.
    Ekaterina is the Professor of the Petre Shotadze Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA), she is head of Biochemistry and Genetics Department and from 2019 is also leading TMA’s Scientific-Research and PhD Department.
    Under Ekaterina Kldiashvili’s leadership have been realized projects funded in the frames of the following programmes: NATO Networking Infrastructure and BSEC, Call for Basic Research State Grants of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia, COST, EaP Twinning, 700 for Science, UMCOR.

    Zanda Bedinashvili is appointed to the Academic Position of and Assistant at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) from 2018 in the direction of Biochemistry/Genetics.
    In 2006 she was awarded with a Bachelor’s Degree in Basic and Natural Sciences by Tbilisi State University. By the same University in 2009 was awarded a Masters Degree for Immunology and Applied Microbiology.  Currently she is a PhD student at the Faculty of Medicine at Tbilisi State University.
    Zanda Bedinashvili has a long and successful professional experience, duration of which exceeds 11 years. Currently she also serves as the lead within the field of molecular diagnostics at the LLC “Molecular Diagnostics Centre”.   

    Department of Immunology

    Mariam Tevzadze serves as an Associated Professor for Immunology at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) from 2017 onwards.
    She graduated from Tbilisi State University in 1980. In 2004, she was awarded with the Degree of Candidate in Biological Sciences.   
    Mariam Tevzadze has 17-year teaching experience. In order to ensure continuous professional development, she participates actively at both national and international conferences.
    Since 1999 she has taken part in several TEMPUS / TACIS projects as well as has undergone trainings in Great Britain (UCL, Westminster University) and Slovenia.

    Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology

    From 2012, Amiran Koridze is appointed to the Academic Position of Associate Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA).
    Amiran Koridze has graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Novosibirsk State Medical University in 1974. In 1995, by the Institute of Humanitarian Medicine and Obstetrics and Gynecology he was awarded with a degree of Candidate of Sciences (Doctoral equivalent).
    Amiran Koridze has an impressive professional experience of 36 years. From 2001 onwards,  he serves as director of multi-profile clinic "Health House".

    From 2016 onwards, Leila Nadareishvili holds the academic position of an Associated Professor in Obstetrics and  Gynecology at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA).
    In 1977 Leila Nadareishvili has graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Crimean State Medical University, following which during 1978-1980 she underwent postgraduate training with particular specialization of “Obstetrics and Gynecology”.  In 2002, shew as awarded with a PhD degree by State Medical Academy.
    Leila  Nadareishvili has 30-year clinical experience.  Currently she is the head of the diagnostic centre. At the Chachava Clinic and serves as a clinical manager.
    In terms of professional development, she takes regular part at both national and international conferences.

    Tamar Gogia serves as Assistant Professor for Obstetrics and Gynecology at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) since 2019.
    She has graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Tbilisi Medical Academy in 1999. In 2006 she was awarded with a PhD Degree by Tbilisi State Medical University.
    Tamar Gogia has 20-year experience of clinical practice. Currently she serves as a practicing obstetrician-gynecologist at “Pineo Medical Ecosystem”.  
    In terms of professional development, she attends various trainings and  participates in various workshops.

    From 2019 onwards, Malkhaz Oniashvili holds an academic position of Assistant in Obstetrics and  Gynecology at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA).
    In 1994 he graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Tbilisi State Medical University, following which in 1994-1995 he completed the training course in "Obstetricians and Gynecology", in order to enhance professional qualifications. In 2004 he also graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the same university. Currently he is a PhD student at the Tbilisi State Medical University.
    Malkhaz Oniashvili has 25-year experience of clinical practice.  Currently he works at the Perinatal Care and Obstetrics-Gynecology Department of LLC “Tbilisi Referral Hospital”. He serves as the head of the women’s’ counseling department and obstetrician-gynecologist.
    In terms of professional development, he attends various conferences, trainings and  participates in various workshops.

    Department of Microbiology

    Taras Gabisonia serves as Professor for Microbiology at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) since 2018.
    Taras Gabisonia completed a postgraduate educational step at the Department of Microbiology of Tbilisi State University during 1982-1986. In 1987 he took a training course for applied medical microbiology at the Institute for Physicians’ Training, in order to obtain corresponding qualification. In 1991 he was awarded with a degree in “Microbiology”. In 1994 he obtained a PhD degree for Biology.  Upon decision of Professor Council, he was awarded with a professorship in. 1998.
    He has 32 years of teaching and 40 years of scientific experience. He is an author of more than 260 scientific articles, contributor of 7 handbooks, author of 2 monographs as well as possesses 28 patents. Under his supervision are completed 20 dissertations.         
    Since 1997 are produced 3 bacteriophage drugs, which are developed by Prof. Gabisonia and are widely used in medical practice. During 2002-2019 under his supervision were successfully implemented 18 local and international scientific projects.

    Manana Loladze holds the academic position of an Assistant Professor for Microbiology at Tbilisi Medical Academy Since 2018.
    She graduated from the Faculty of Biology at Tbilisi State University in 1982. In 1992 she was awarded with a Candidate Degree for Biological Sciences by the same University.
    Currently she is leading scientist of the Applied Microbiology Laboratory at the George Eliava Institute of Bacteriophage, Microbiology and Virology.
    Manana Loladze is an author of 86 scientific works. In terms of professional development, she takes active participation at the local and international conferences.

    Department of Pathology

    Nino Museridze is an Associated Professor of Pathology  at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) since 2017.
    In 1999 she graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Tbilisi State Medical University. In 2006 she was awarded with a PhD degree in medical sciences by A. Natishvili Institute of Morphology and Pathology.
    She has 19-years clinical experience.  Currently she serves as obstetrician-gynecologist and fertility specialist at  the Georgian-German Centre for Reproductive Medicine (GGRC).
    In terms of professional development, she takes active participation at the local and international conferences.

    Teona Muzashvili holds an academic position of Affiliated Assistant of Pathology  at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) since 2019.
    In 2015 she graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Tbilisi State Medical University.  Currently she is enrolled  in a  PhD programme at the same university and serves as a pathologist at the teaching-research and diagnostic laboratory. 
    Teona Muzashvili is actively involved in scientific-research activities. In terms of professional development,  she participates actively within national and international conferences, trainings and various workshops.

    Department of Pediatrics

    Ia Khurtsilava holds at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) an academic position of  Affiliated Assistant in Pediatrics since 2019.
    In 2010 she graduated from the Faculty of Medicinie of Tbilisi State Medical University, following which during 2011-2014 she completed a Residency programme at the TSMU Institute for Postgraduate Education and Continuous Professional Development, majoring in Pediatric Endocrinology. During 2015-2017 she completed Residency training at the same university towards specialization – “Pediatrics”. Currently she is a PhD student in medicine at the New Vision University.
    She has 9-year experience in clinical practice. Currently she continues practical activities as a Pediatric Endocrinologist at I. Tsitsishvili Children's Hospital.
    In terms of professional development, she takes active participation at the local and international conferences.
     

    Department of Social Sciences / Medical Ethics and Law

    Department of Pharmacology

    Natela Gogitidze is an Associated Professor of Pharmacology at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) since 2012.
    Natela Gogitidze graduated from the Faculty of Biology of Tbilisi State University in 1974. In 1991 she was awarded with a PhD in Biology. 
    She has an impressive 47-years of professional experience. Currently she is a researcher at the Department of Pre-Clinical Pharmacological Research of I. Kutateladze Institute of  Pharmaco-chemistry. 
    The field of his scientific research is expanding to the study and analysis of pharmacological activities for natural, modified and synthetic compounds;  as well as pharmaceutical product safety assessment.
    N. Gogitidze is one of the developers behind widely used pharmaceutical products, such as “Sinuforte” – used for treatment of sinusitis and ear inflammations and “Lazolex” – which in its’ turn is an antiviral and antifungal drug.
    Throughout her career she has published around  50  scientific works and has obtained 2 patents. 

    Department of Physiology

    Tamar Gaikharashvili is an Associated Professor of Physiology at Tbilisi Medical Academi since 2018. From 2019, she is appointed as Vice-rector for Educational Resource Development.
    Tamar Gaikharashvili graduated from Tbilisi State Medical University in 1988, majoring in Pediatrics. In 2005 she was awarded with a PhD in medicine. 
    In terms of professional development, she takes active participation at the local and international conferences.

    Department of Psychiatry

    Manana Bokuchava has been appointed as Professor of Psychiatry at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) since 2012.
    Manana Bokuchava has graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of  Tbilisi  State Medical University, as well as postgraduate educational programme of the same university and postgraduate clinical development programme of Institute of Psychiatry of USSR Medical Academy (Moscow).
    Manana Bokuchava was an active clinical practitioner at the M. Asatiani Institute  of Psychiatry, where she served as the scientific lead of the clinical department. She has an impressive 31-years of teaching experience.
    By  the given moment,  she has published more than 30 scientific works, monography: „Age peculiarities for psychopathology of affective disorders" and textbook “General Psychopathologies”

    Department of Surgery

    Otto Dapunt has been appointed as a Professor of Surgery  at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) since 2019.
    In 1982 he graduated from the Innsbruck School of Medicine (Austria), following which during 1982-1995 he completed a postgraduate clinical development step under following specializations: “Urology”, “General and Vascular Surgery”, “Heart Surgery”. At the same time, in 1990 he graduated from the Hannover School of Medicine (Germany). In 1994 he was awarded with the degree of PhD in Medicine by Innsbruck University. 
    During 1994-1996 he was the Senior Surgeon, as well as served as Vice-Chairman at the University Clinic of Innsbruck.  At the same time, he also was the Head of the Heart Transplant Program. During 1997-1999 he continued to work as a Professor at the University of Cologne. Afterwards, during 1999-2014  he continued professional practice as the Head of the Surgical Department at the Oldenburg University Clinic (Germany). During 2014-2019 he was the lead of the Heart Centre at the Graz University Clinic (Austria). Since 2019 he exercises his professional capacities as the consultant at the Cardiology Clinic “Guli”, Georgia.

    Gia Nemsadze serves as the Professor for Surgery (Oncology) since 2016 at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA)
    In 1976 Gia Nemsadze graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Tbilisi State Medical University, following which in 1983 he obtained a Candidate Degree of Medical Sciences in Leningrad (Now St. Petersburt), Russia and subsequently, in  1991 he was awarded with the Degree of PhD in Medical Sciences. In 1998 he became a Laureate of the State Prize. In addition, in 2004 he was. Awarded with the Scientific-Teaching title of Professor in the field of “Oncology”.
    Gia Nemsadze is the founder of the Institute. For Clinical Oncology and has a long clinical experience, duration of which accounts many years. At the same time, he is an author of more than 100 scientific papers.

    Kakhaber Kuntelia is appointeda as a Professor of Surgery (Vascular Surgery) at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) since 2014.
    Kakhaber Kuntelia graduated from the Tbilisi State Medical Institute, following which during 1990–1991 he completed a clinical internship for General Surgery at the Department of Vascular and Microsurgery of Tbilisi State Medical University Clinic. In 2004 he was awarded with a PhD Degree in Vascular Surgery.   
    Kakhaber Kuntelia has a long-term practical experience, duration of which exceeds 30 years. In terms of professional development, he is actively participating in both national, as well as international conferences.

     

    Since 2014, Leonide Tokhadze serves as a Professor of Surgery (Vascular Surgery) at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA). 
    Leonide Tokhadze graduated from the Tbilisi State Medical Institute in 1981. Later he continued professional development and completed a clinical internship at the Department of General Surgery during 1981-1982. In 1997 he was awarded with the title of  scientific-research title of an Associate Professor in General Surgery.
    Leonide Tokhadze has 38 years of clinical experience. In terms of professional development, he actively attends both local and international conferences.
    Leonide Tokhadze is awarded with the prestigious Medal of Honor of Georgia.

    Irakli Cheishvili serves as the Professor for surgical direction at the Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) since 2014, with particular specialization in Neurosurgery.  
    Irakli Chelishvili graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Tbilisi State Medical Institute in 1991.  During 1991 – 1992 he completed a clinical internship at the Republic Hospital, majoring in “Neurology”. In 2002 he was awarded by the same University with an academic degree of Candidate in Medical Sciences.
    Currently Irakli Cheishvili is head of the Neurosurgical Department at the Multi-profile Medical Centre Innova.
    Irakli Cheishvili has 23 years of clinical experience. In terms of professional development, he actively participates within various conferences of both local, as well as international exposure.

    Lukhum Chamturia is appointed to the Associated Professor’s academic position at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) since 2014. His activities take particular direction towards Internal Medicine (Traumatology).
    In 1998 he graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Tbilisi State Medical Institute. In 2008 he was awarded by Tbilisi Medical Academy with a PhD of Medicine.
    Starting from 2000 he worked as an  invited practitioner at various clinics. From 2014 onwards, he is appointed as the leading expert of Traumatology and Orthopedics at the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia. Dating from the same period, he also serves as the Head of the Department for Emergency Traumatology at one of the leading hospitals of Georgia, “New Hospitals”.
    In terms of professional development, he takes active part at the conferences of both local and international significance.

    Giorgi Gvakharia is appointed to the position of Associated Professor for General Surgery at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) since 2009.
    Currently Giorgi  Gvakharia is the Head of General Surgical Department at S. Khechinashvili University Clinic. He has 39 years of clinical experience, as well as 30 years of teaching background.
    In 2000 Giorgi Gvakharia was awarded with the scientific-teaching degree of Associated Professorship in Surgery by the Georgian State Medical Academy.  He holds State Certificates in general surgery, as well as thoracic surgery, surgical oncology and clinical management.
    Over the years, Giorgi Gvakharia was exercising clinical practice abroad, namely at the Sklifosovsky Clinical and Research Institute for Emergency Medicine (Moscow, Russia); Semmelweiss University Clinic (Budapest, Hungary) and Hjorring Municipal  Multi-profile Clinic (Hjorring, Denmark). 
    Giorgi Gvakharia is awarded with the Grigol Mukhadze Medal of Honor and Military Medal of Zaza Panaskertel-Tsitsishvili for Bravery.

    Nikoloz Gvakharia is appointed as the Assistant Professor of Surgery at Tbilisi Medical. Academy (TMA) since 2018. 
    He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Tbilisi State Medical Institute  in 1992, following which during. 1992-1997 he completed a clinical internship and postgraduate study programme, commonly referred as “Aspirantura”  at the clinical base of Moscow City Clinical Hospital, Department of Hospital Surgery №1 Moscow State Medical University. In 2004 he was  awarded with a PhD in Medical Sciences.  
    Nikoloz Gvakharia has 28 years of clinical experience. Currently he carries out medical practice at the LLC “House of Health” as a leading surgeon.

    Giorgi Bochorishvili is a Professor of Surgery (Urology) at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) since 2018.
    He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Tbilisi State Medical Institute in 1975. Further professional development he continued during 1975-1977 at the same university, where he completed clinical internship in Urology. In 1980 he successfully defended a dissertation at the Moscow State Institute No2 and was awarded with a scientific degree of Candidate for the specialization of Urology. In 1990 he defended a  doctoral dissertation at  Tbilisi State Medical University and was awarded with corresponding PhD in Medical Sciences.  In 1993, he was entitled as Professor by the Scientific Council of Tbilisi State Medical University.
    During his career, he worked as a researcher at Al. Tsulukidze National Scientific-Research Institute of Urology, leading specialist-urologist at the National Centre  Urology, as well as has served as Deputy Director and Director.  Currently he is the leading specialist at the National Centre of Urology and Head of the Urology Department at LLC “House of Health”.
    Giorgi Bochorishvili is a member of Georgian, European, American and Internatioinial Associatioins of Urologists, as well as a lecturer of European School of Urlogists.
    Under the status of invited professor, he has visited and conducted activities at the university hospitals in the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Belgium and Germany.  During 2008-2009, he worked at the New-York Memorial Hospital as a Fulbright Scholar.
    Giorgi Bochorishvili is an author of more than 120 scientific works and 6 monographies.

    Bidzina Kanashvili is appointed as an Associated Professor of Surgery (Traumatology) at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) from 2020 onwards.
    In 2010 Bidzina Kanashvili graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Tbilisi State Medical University, following which he underwent postgraduate residency programme at the same university. In 2015 he was awarded with a state certificate in the area of “Orthopedics and Traumatology”.
    During a successive period, Bidzina Kanashvili successfully completed a PhD programme at New Vision University, where following defense of PhD dissertation in 2018, he was awarded with a PhD degree.
    Throughout his career, he has obtained years of working experience at the University Clinics of USA, Hong-Kong and Turkey. At the same time, he actively participates at various local, as well as international conferences.
    His primary place of medical practice by the given moment is “M. Iashvili Childrens’ Central Hospital”, where he serves as an Orthopedist-traumatologist.

    Department of Behavioral Sciences

    Gela Beselia is appointed as an Associated Professor of Behavioral Sciences at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) since 2018.
    In 2008 following graduation from the postgraduate development course – “Aspirantura” at the Ivane Beritashvili Institute of Physiology of Georgian Academy of Science, Gela Beselia was awarded with a PhD in Medicine. He also holds a State Certificate in Lung Diseases,  Pulmonology and Neurology. During his career he has undergone internship at the Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy at the Medical College of New-York.
    Gela Beselia has 8 years of practical medical experience. Since 2010 he is a researcher at the Laboratory of Behavior and Cognitive Functions at the I. Beritashvili Centre for Experimental Biomedicine.
    He is participant of 11 scientific-research projects, among them he was twice awarded with Presidential Grant Competition for Young Scientists and winner of the grant competition for young scientists by the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia.
    Gela Beselia is an author and contributor of more than 20 scientific publications, as well as has taken part in more than 15 international conferences.
    At the same time, he is a member of the International Brain Research Organization (IBRO) and the European Federation of Neuroscientists (FENS). From 2016 onwards, he serves as an Executive Secretary at the Georgian Association of Neuroscientists.
    In terms of professional development, he takes active part at local, as well as international conferences.


    Nino Shiukashvili holds the position of Assistant at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) since 2018 towards a particular direction of Behavioral Sciences.
    In 2005 She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of David Tvildiani Medical University “Aieti”. Currently she is a PhD student at the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Ilia State University.
    From 2015 onwards Nino Shiukashvili is appointed as the Head of Quality Assurance Department at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA). At the same time, she has 8 years of teaching experience.
    Nino Shiukashvili is  an active participant of local, as well as international conferences.

    Department of Internal Medicine

    Since 2012 Anzor Melia holds the position of Professor for Internal Diseases at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA).
    Anzor Melia graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at I.Sechinov First Moscow State Medical Institute. In 1987 he was awarded with a Degree of Candidate for Medical Sciences by the Bakulev Cardiovascular Institute of USSR Academy of Medical Sciences.
    From 1996 onwards,  he is the founder and Director of Cardiology Clinic “Guli”, which was established in the same year.  
    Anzor Melia is awarded with a Medal of Honor.
     

    Irakli Avazashvili holds a position of Professor for Internal Medicine at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) Since 2014.
    Irakli Avazashvili graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Tbilisi State Medical Institute in 1981. In 1990 he was awarded with a PhD in Medicine.
    Irakli Avazashvili has 25 years of teaching and. 38 years of professional clinical experience.  Currently he is an active practitioner at the Simon Khechinashvili University Hospital.

    Anna Rekhviashvili is  appointed as an Associated Professor for Internal Medicine at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) since 2012.
    In 2002 she graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Tbilisi State University. In 2006 she completed a postgraduate development programme – “Aspirantura” at the M. Tsinamdzgvrishvili Institute of Cardiology of Tbilisi State University, under specialization – “Cardiology”. In 2009 she was awarded with the PhD in Medicine.
    Anna Rekhviashvili has 17 years of clinical experience. Currently she continues medical practice as a Cardiologist at the Alexandre Aladashvili Clinic, as well as leads Arterial Hypertension Research Centre. At the same time, she is a clinical specialist at the European Hypertension Association.  
    Anna Rekhviashvili is an author of more than 80 scientific articles. In terms of professional development, she regularly attends both local, as well as international conferences.

    Natalia Asatiani holds he position of Aassociated Professor at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA)  in Internal Medicine since 2014. Her particular area of activities is Endocrinology. 
    She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Tbilisi State Medical Institute in 1977. In 1986 Natalia Asatiani was awarded with the PhD in Medicine by  Kiev Institute of Endocrinology. 
    Natalia Asatiani has 43 years of professional experience.
    Currently she continues medical practice at the National Research Centre of Diabetes,  where she serves as the Head of Department for Functional Diagnostics.
    In terms of professional development, she regularly attends both local, as well as international conferences.

    Irma Buchukuri is appointed as Associated Professor of Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA)  since 2016,  where her activities are directed towards Internal Diseases (Dermato-venerology).
    She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Tbilisi State Medical Institute in 1985.  During 1989-1991 she completed clinical training at the Institute of Skin and Venereal Diseases.  In 2006. She was awarded with a PhD in Medicine.  
    Irma Buchukuri has 34 years of professional experience. Currently she works as Dermatologist at the Mardaleishvili Medical Centre.

    Since 2012 Marine Kanashvili is appointed as an Associated Professor in Internal Medicine of Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA).
    In 1982 she graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of State Medical Institute. In 2002 she was awarded by the PhD Degree in Medical Sciences by Tbilisi State Medical University.

    Marine Kanashvili has 38 years of professional experience.  Currently she  actively practices medicine at the LLC “Vakhtang Bochorishvili Clinic”.

    Irma Kokaia holds an academic position of Associated Profert at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) starting from 2019 in the field of Internal Medicine.
    Irma Kokaia graduated from the Pediatric Faculty of Tbilisi State Medical Institute, following which in 2003 she completed clinical residency training of Tbilisi State Medical Academy towards Medical Parasitology and Tropical Medicine, majoring in “Parasitology”.
    In 2015 Irma Kokaia was awarded with a PhD of Medicine by Tbilisi State Medical University.
    She has 17 years of clinical experience. From 2009 onwards she is appointed as the Director of the Research Institute for Parasitology and Tropical Medicine, as well as serves as an expert (for internal diseases) of the Ministry for The Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia.

    Since 2019. Nino Kekenadze  serves as the Associated Professor for Internal Medicine.  At the same time, she is appointed as Dean of the School of Medicine.
    Nino Kekenadze graduated from Tbilisi State Medical University in 2002, following which during 2002-2004 she completed a postgraduate clinical course in Internal Diseases at the Russian State Medical University, majoring in “Therapy”. In 2006, after completion of postgraduate education, she successfully defended a dissertation at the Moscow Institute for Physical and Chemical Medicine, towards Cardiology and Immunology, in result of which she was awarded with the PhD of Medicine.
    From 2004 onwards, Nino Kekenadze carries out practical work towards applied medicine (internal diseases), medical education and health management. In terms of professional development, she attends regularly local, as well as international conferences.

    Since 2018 Marine Karchava holds a position of Assistant Professor at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) in Internal Medicine.
    She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Tbilisi State Medical University in 2002. Following graduation, she completed a postgraduate educational course with duration of 3 years at the David Axelrod Institute for Public Health, New York State Health Department.  At the same time, she is the holder of a prestigious scholarship from Fogarty International Center (NIH). In 2015 Marine Karchava was awarded by Tbilisi State Medical University with PhD in Medicine 
    From 2002 onwards she is engaged in clinical practice as a virologist at the Scientific and Applied Centre of Infectious Diseases, AIDS and Clinical Immunology Research Centre.
    In terms of professional development,  she is actively involved in both local and. International conferences. Since 2002 she is actively involved in scientific work and is author of more than 20 scientific papers and conference publications.  Also, she supervises scientific-research projects, funded by the American and European agencies.

    Manana Kutkhashvili serves as an Assitant Professor for Internal Medicine at Tbilisi. Medical. Academy (TMA) from 2019.
    Manana Kutkhashvili graduated from the Faculty of Therapy of Tbilisi State Medical University  in. 1996. She holds State Certificate in following fields: “Cardiology” and “Internal Medicinie”.
    She has 22 years of clinical experience. In terms of professional development, she takes part at various trainings and workshops at both local and international levels.

    Nino Lortkipanidze hold a Professors’ position at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) within direction of Internal Medicine (Dermato-venerology).
    Nino Lortkipanidze graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Tbilisi State Medical University in 1996, following which she completed a clinical internship at the Zhordania Institute of Reproductive Medicine.  During 1997-2000 she expanded her qualifications towards Dermato-venerology within frames of postgraduate clinical internship at the Institute of Skin and Venereal Diseases. In 2006 she was awarded by TSMU with a Candidate Degree (equal to PhD) in Medicine.
    Currently Nino Lortkipanidze serves as the Head of Dermatology Department at Mardaleishvili Diagnostic Centre, as well as is an elected president of “Georgian Hair Research Socitey”,  as well as president of Eastern European and Asian Hair Research Society. (EEAHRS).

    Tamar Shotadze holds an Academic Position of Associated Professor towards the direction of Clinical Skills.
    In. 1999 she graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Tbilisi Medical. Academy. In 2005 she completed her clinical training in Critical Medicine under the postgraduate Residency programme  of Tbilisi State Medical University.
    Tamar Shotadze has 14 Years of clinical experience. In terms of professional development, she takes part at various trainings and workshops.


    Akaki Sephashvili is appointed to the Assitant’s academic Position towards direction of Clinical Skills.
    Akaki Sephashvili graduated from the  Faculty of Medicine of Tbilisi State Medical University, followed by a Master’s Degree at Ilia State University. Currently he is enrolled in a PhD programme at Tbilisi State Medical University.  Behind his back he holds  8 years of experience within clinical skills teaching and organization of objectively structured clinical skills  examinations.
    Since 2014 he serves as the Head of TMA Clinical Skills  and Objectively Structured Examination Centre. 


    Department of Foreign Languages

    Tamar Svianadze is an Associated Professor for Foreign Languages at.  Tbilisi Medical Academy since 2019. 
    Tamar Svianadze graduated from Ilia State University.  Currently she is enrolled to a  Doctoral programme at the Georgian Technical University.
    Tamar Svianadze  has 15 years of teaching experience. In terms of professional development, she attends both local,  as well as international conferences.

    School of Public Health

    Lela Sturua is appointed as the Professor for the direction of Social Sciences, Medical Ethics and Law since 2019.
    Lela Sturua is a Medical Doctor (MD) and Master of Public Health (MPH). Since 1999 she works at the National Centre for Disease Control and National Centre of Public Health, where she serves as Head of the Department for Non-Communicable Diseases.
    Primary research areas for Lela Sturua Are: Public Health, Health Policy, Health Promotion, Non-Communicable Diseases, Reproductive Health, Tobacco, Quantitative and Qualitative Research, etc. Through the years of her career, Lela Sturua has been the head of multiple international projects of State importance within different areas of public health.

    Ana Baramidze holds at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) an academic position of  Associated Professor towards the direction of Social Sciences, Medical Ethics and Law since 2018.
    In 2008 she graduated from Tbilisi State Medical University, following which during 2008-2010 she completed a postgraduate Residency programme at the Scientific-Research Institute of Clinical Medicine, majoring in Radiology. In 2017 she was awarded with a PhD in medicine by Tbilisi State Medical University. During 2011 she enhanced qualifications in Austria, at the Graz University Clinic.
    From 2011 she serves as the head of the Clinical Research Department at the Scientific-Research Institute of Clinical Medicine.
    In terms of professional development, she takes active participation at the local and international conferences.
     
     

    Gvantsa Dadiani holds at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) an academic position of  Assistant towards direction of Social Sciences, Medical Ethics and Law since 2019.
    In 2012 she graduated from Tbilisi State Medical University. In 2018 she was awarded with a Master’s Degree for Public Health (MPH) by Tbilisi State University. Simultaneously, she expanded her knowledge towards various aspects of Public Health at the leading European Universities.
    From 2018 onwards, she is actively involved in scientific work and publishing articles within the areas of Public Health and Epidemiology.
    Her experience of practical work in the field of Public Health counts 5 years.  Currently she continues her activities at Tbilisi Medical Academy as Deputy Head of Quality Assurance Department.     
    In terms of professional development, she takes active participation at the local and international conferences, as well as attends various trainings and workshops. 

     

    Marina Topuridze holds an academic position of Associated Professor for Epidemiology at the Tbilisi Medical Academy School of Public Health from 2020 onwards.
    Marina Topuridze obtained a Degree of Medical Doctor (MD) at the Tbilisi State Medical University in 2005, where she graduated from the Faculty of Medicine. In 2005 she was awarded with a Master’s Degree in Epidemiology by the prestigious School of Public Health of New-York State University. At the same time, she holds an international certificate in Bioethics of Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences - Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
    Currently she is a PhD student at the School of Public and Primary Health (CAPHRI) at the joint programme of Faculty of Natural Sciences and Medicine of Ilia State University and Maastricht University Department for Health Promotion.
    From 2010 onwards, Marina Topuridze is employed at the National Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, as the head of the Bioethics Council and Chief Specialist at the Department of Health Promotion.
    Marina Topuridze has significant managerial experience towards research and implementational projects at both local and international levels. At the same time, she is an author and contributor of various publications in international scientific journals.

    Since 2020, Maia Alkhazashvili is affiliated at the School of Public Health of Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) as an Associated Professor for Public Health.
    Maia Alkhazashvili graduated from the Faculty of Pediatrics of Tbilisi State Medical University in 1995, following which she underwent a clinical internship in the same area and in 1996 obtained qualification as a Pediatrician.
    During 2004-2005 she underwent a postgraduate residency programme of Tbilisi Medical Academy towards the area of ,,Laboratory Medicine“. Subsequently, currently she holds state certificates for both Pediatrics and Laboratory Medicine.
    Currently she is a PhD student in the area of Public Health at the University of Georgia School of Health Sciences.
    In 2012, Maia Alkhazashvili was appointed as the Head of the Department for Laboratory Service Management and Regional Epidemiological Surveillance at the L. Sakvarelidze. National Centre of Disease Control and Public Health. From 2017 onwards she is the head of the Lugar Research Centre for Public Health.
    Maia Alkhazashvili is the head of many state-important international projects towards various directions of Public Health.

    Lela Serebriakova is appointed as an Associated Professor for Health Economics at the School of Public Health of Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA).
    Lela Serebriakova was awarded with a Master’s Degree in Health Systems and Public Policy by Edinburgh University in 2011. Also, she has received education and professional training in the USA, Finland, India and Norway. Currently she is a PhD student at the Caucasus University with a major in Economics.
    Lela Serebriakova is actively involved in the field of healthcare from 2004 onwards. During this period, she served as a lead and main consultant for numerous important projects or initiatives in the healthcare field. During 2011-2013 she was appointed as the Head of Department for National Healthcare Programmes and Public Health at the Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Welfare of Georgia. Currently Lela Serebriakova is employed at the National Centre for Disease Control, as well as consults various international organizations beyond the borders of Georgia.
    Her main research interests are: health financing, justice and equality in medicine, health system reforms.

    Lia Gvinjilia is appointed to the academic position of Associated Professor for Maternal, Infant and Reproductive Health at the School of Public Health of Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) since 2020.
    Lia Gvinjilia graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Russian State Medical University in 2000, following which underwent clinical internship at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the same University. In 2005, Lia Gvinjilia was awarded with a PhD Degree for Medicine by the I.M. Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy (MMA)
    Within frames of Fogarty International Center (NIH) scholarship program, during 2010-2012 she underwent a Master’s Programme, majoring in Epidemiology at the Albany University School of Public Health. In 2012 she was awarded with a Master’s Degree of the stated university.
    From 2008 onwards, Lia Gvinjilia worked at the Public Health projects, funded by USAID. (John Snow Inc.). Currently she is occupied at the US CDC Department of Viral Hepatitis as contract manager for monitoring and evaluation.
    In terms of professional development, she actively participates within local, as well as international conferences and events.

    Tamar Khutrsilava is elected to the academic position of an Associated Professor towards direction of Global Health at the School of Public Health of Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) since 2020.
    In 2008 she graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Tbilisi State Medical University in 2008. Following graduation, she was employed in the field of health insurance. In 2011 she continued education in Great Britain, where she obtained a Master’s Degree in Public Health at the London Metropolitan University.
    Following her return to Georgia, she continued to work at the Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia towards the direction of primary healthcare. From 2015 onwards, she was appointed as the general manager of “IQ Clinic”, where she holds the same position at the moment. Tamar Khurtsilava is actively involved in various research initiatives and projects.
