Lally Mekokishvili, a doctor of medicine and professor specializing in dermatovenerology, serves
as an official expert in dermatovenerology for the Ministry of Health. Additionally, she holds the
esteemed position of president of the Photodermatology and Skin Cancer Association of
Georgia. Since 2022, Lali Mekokishvili has assumed the role of Dean of the School of Medicine
at Petre Shotadze Tbilisi Medical Academy, while also holding the academic position of affiliated
professor in the field of dermatovenerology within the academy.
Dr. Lally has 37 years of experience in clinical practice, 27 years of academic tenure, and 15
years of service as a dean. Between 2002 and 2008, Dr. Lally underwent professional
internships at German university clinics, including Freiburg, Oldenburg, and Augsburg. In
recognition of her contributions to the field, she was awarded with an honorary degree from the
Medical University of Wrocław (Poland) in 2019.
Under the initiative and leadership of Lally Mekokishvili, a number of international projects have
been implemented, encompassing both university cooperation (TEMPUS, ERASMUS) and
research (EURODERMOSCOPY). She organized three international congresses on
dermatology. Since 2012, she has been leading the pan-European skin cancer prevention
campaign "Euromelanoma" and has organized annual free skin cancer screenings across
Georgia.
Dr. Lally Mekokishvili has been elected as a member of the board of directors for several
international professional organizations, currently she is a Board member and committee chair
of The International Society of Dermatology, in addition to serving as a member of the editorial
board for esteemed international scientific journals including "Dermatologic Therapy", "Our
Dermatology Online", "International Journal of Clinical Dermatology and Research (IJDR)", and
from 2023 "International Journal of Dermatology (IJD)". She is frequently invited to serve as a
plenary speaker at international congresses. Since 1991, Mrs. Lally has consistently published
scientific works in both Georgia and abroad. Moreover, she serves as the principal investigator
for multicenter international clinical trials.
