Admission Procedure
The enrollment of foreign nationals aspiring to join the Joint Masters Program in Applied Public Health, as well as Georgian citizens residing abroad, is governed by Order No. 224 issued by the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia on December 29, 2011.
Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) and the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA) welcome international students from around the world to join the MD program in Applied Public Health.
The Masters Degree in Applied Public Health encompasses the following core directions:
- Epidemiology and Biostatistics
- Social and Behavioral Aspects of Health
- Health Policy and Management
- Health Budgeting and Assessment of Effectiveness
The program provides students with a unique opportunity to gain experience both within the university and in the field through mandatory internships conducted at affiliated organizations engaged in research, program implementation, and policy development in public health. During these internships, students will enhance their skills in analytical and quantitative research methodologies, laboratory techniques, problem identification, and resolution strategies.
A variety of elective subjects allows students to specialize further in their fields of interest.
Academic and invited personnel, who are appointed to teach each course within the Masters Degree program, are leaders in both general disciplines of public health and specific scientific research areas.
The duration of the educational program is two years, consisting of four semesters and totaling 120 credits. In accordance with the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS), a student's annual credit load is 60 credits, with 30 credits per semester. One credit for this program is equivalent to 25 astronomical hours.

- Transcript (including earned credits and completed hours) from the graduated university
- Letter of Recommendation
- Letter of Motivation
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- A valid language certificate confirming a B2 level of fluency in English (IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge English, Versant, etc.), or a certificate verifying graduation from an English-taught undergraduate or postgraduate program.
For Transferring Students:
- Passport copy
- Transcript (including earned credits and completed hours) from the home university
- Completed application form;
- A valid language certificate confirming a B2 level of fluency in English (IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge English, Versant, etc.), or a certificate confirming that the instruction was delivered in the English language.
Procedures:
Upon submission and review of all required documents, an internal examination in the subject-specific discipline, and if necessary, in the English language, will be scheduled for the applicant. TMA leads and assists in all processes related to admission, including translation, legalization, and recognition of the applicants documents by the authorities of Georgia.
The entire admission process takes approximately 21-30 days.
Financial Information:
- Tuition Fee: $5000 per year
- Admission Fee: $200 (payable only after review of the submitted documents)
The annual tuition fee can be paid in two installments, before the commencement of each semester.

Visa and Immigration:
Students are required to obtain a D3 immigration visa before they arrive in Georgia. Detailed visa procedures and a list of countries exempt from visa requirements can be accessed at the following link: https://geoconsul.gov.ge/en
Accommodation:
While TMA and GIPA do not currently provide on-campus accommodation facilities, the Department for Student Services is committed to assisting students in securing rental housing on a shared basis.
Medical Insurance:
All students must possess valid local medical insurance before the commencement of the semester. The cost of local insurance packages ranges from 7 to 25 USD per month.
