Volunteer Project "Eco Pulse"
2024-05-30
TMA students implemented the volunteer project "Eco Pulse" with the participation of public-school students within the framework of "Studfest 2024". The goal of the project is to engage and empower young people in solving environmental challenges in our society through a series of educational activities.
The project "Eco Pulse" was implemented by the "Helpers of Community" student club of TMA. The project brought together 9 medical students and four main activities. One of the main events was training for school students and adults with special educational needs. The students of the 61st, 172nd, 155th, and 16th public schools and the private school "Buckswood", as well as adults from the social enterprise "Babale" were involved in the project.
The training was presented to the students by the members of "Eco Pulse" and they talked about the need to restore the green cover, pollution problems and ways to solve them. Khatuna Nozadze, the winner of the national teacher's award and, and certified chemist, spoke to the audience about the ecological problems of the environment and presented an interesting chemical experiment. At the final stage of the event, students involved in the project took part in a workshop. Adults had the opportunity to paint pots and plant plants.
At the end, all participating students were given a certificate confirming their participation in the "Eco Pulse" project.
TMA's volunteer project was implemented within the framework of the large-scale student festival "Studfest 2024", which was evaluated by a special jury. Within the framework of the festival, 24 higher educational institutions participate in the volunteer project and the best project will be selected by the jury.
It should be noted that Tbilisi Medical Academy constantly advocates environmental concerns. On the initiative of TMA student clubs "Helpers of Community" and "Eco Club" and with the involvement of students, academic and administrative staff of the Academy, the "Go Green" campaign is being implemented, which means implementing a green policy at TMA and sharing information about environmental issues with international experts, clinicians, with students. The advocacy campaign also involves close dialogue with patients. It is also important that the Academy actively cooperates with partner organizations and implements activities dedicated to raising public awareness of environmental issues, advocating environmental policies, climate change, the global challenge of air pollution, or promoting healthy food.
