Welcome to MEDIC 2025 – Medicine: Innovations and Challenges
25–27 November 2025 | Tbilisi, Georgia | Hybrid Format
The international conference MEDIC 2025: Medicine – Innovations and Challenges will be held from November 25 to 27, 2025, in Tbilisi, Georgia, hosted by Petre Shotadze Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) in a hybrid format. With the overarching theme “From Molecular Medicine to Planetary Health: Bridging Biomedical Innovation with Sustainability and Global Equity,” the event will explore the changing responsibilities of science in the face of technological progress, societal transformation, and global health pressures.
As medical science pushes new frontiers, MEDIC 2025 asks a timely and essential question:
How do we ensure that innovation remains grounded in integrity, equity, and long-term relevance — for individuals, institutions, and the planet?
At the heart of the programme lies a commitment to rethinking how research is assessed, shared, and supported. Building on the momentum of international reform efforts, including the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA), the conference will bring together scholars, policymakers, and doctoral communities to explore how we move beyond narrow indicators toward more inclusive and meaningful evaluation practices. This year’s edition is especially significant for TMA, marking the launch of its doctoral programmes in Medical Sciences and Public Health. MEDIC 2025 will showcase research areas central to the Academy’s strategic vision — including biomarker discovery, neuroscience, antimicrobial resistance, and the ethical integration of AI in healthcare and research — all closely aligned with European standards and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Key Objectives of MEDIC 2025
- Advance dialogue on research assessment reform. Create space for institutional leaders, policymakers, and early-career researchers to explore how assessment models can better reflect collaboration, integrity, and real-world impact.
- Strengthen academic integrity in a digital age. Address how institutions can uphold trust and transparency in the face of AI-authorship, automated tools, and algorithmic shortcuts.
- Support excellence in doctoral education and supervision. Share frameworks and practices that reinforce quality, mentorship, and regional alignment with EUA-CDE and CoARA standards.
- Showcase frontier research in biomedicine and planetary health. Highlight studies on cancer biomarkers, neuroscience, AMR, climate-linked disease risks, and AI-supported diagnostics — with emphasis on translational and public health relevance.
- Foster collaboration across borders and disciplines. Promote enduring research partnerships rooted in mutual learning and shared priorities between Georgian institutions and the broader European research community.
- Elevate the role of early-career researchers. Provide dedicated spaces for PhD candidates, interns, and young investigators to present, connect, and influence the future of scientific practice.
A Conference That Reflects Today — and Shapes Tomorrow
Over three dynamic days, MEDIC 2025 will feature a blend of keynote talks, policy roundtables, interactive workshops, and student-led presentations. Topics will range from academic freedom and faculty identity to responsible research evaluation, open science, clinical innovation, and citizen engagement in sensitive fields such as oncology and neuroscience.
This is not just a conference about what we research — but about how we do it, why it matters, and who it serves.
Join us in Tbilisi or online to be part of this vibrant, forward-thinking conversation.
