Erasmus+ SAFEMED+ Project Closure Ceremony

Tbilisi Medical Academy hosted the closure ceremony of Erasmus+ SAFEMED+ project. Delegations of universities participating in the consortium from Ukraine, Armenia, Spain, Italy, and Lithuania visited Tbilisi to attend the final event. The meeting was attended by representatives of National Erasmus Offices (NEOs) from Ukraine and Armenia, who greeted the audience remotely. Also, Natia Gabitashvili, Deputy Head of the Department of International Relations and Strategic Development of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia participated remotely in the event and spoke about the significance of the projects proposed by Erasmus+.

The closing ceremony of Erasmus+ SAFEMED+ project was held at Tbilisi Medical Academy. Delegations of universities participating in the consortium from Ukraine, Armenia, Spain, Italy, and Lithuania visited Tbilisi to attend the final event. The event was opened by TMA Vice-Rector in International Affairs Ia Avaliani, also the project coordinator. The meeting was also attended by TMA Rector Irene Shotadze, Head of the Higher Education Development Department of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia Nino Tsereteli, academic and administrative staff of TMA, and representatives of various universities participating in the consortium.

The project SAFEMED+ " Simulation in Undergraduate MEDical Education for Improvement of SAFEty and Quality of Patient Care" was ongoing for three years and involved the introduction of innovations in medical education, sharing experience, and strengthening the clinical line with a modern approach. Also, the implementation and development of competency-based medical simulation training in participating universities, by the requirements, which in turn ensures the formation of appropriate clinical competencies among graduates.

As part of the dissemination, along with the summary of the achieved results, the book “The Role of OSCE and Clinical Line for Mastering CLINICAL COMPETENCIES of Medical Students“ created by the consortium was also presented. The book was published in Georgian, English, Ukrainian, and Armenian languages and was given to the guests invited to the event with the author’s signatures.

The three-year project was created, planned, and implemented directly by TMA, which brought together a consortium of nine universities from Georgia, Armenia, Ukraine, Italy, Spain, and Lithuania.
