Another meeting organized by the Alzheimer's Club was held at Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA). "Memory Science and Alzheimer's Disease" - to discuss this topic the Academy hosted the Secretary of the Georgian Alzheimer's Association, Head of the Youth Department, Ana Kiknadze.

The speaker noted that Alzheimer's disease is one of the greatest challenges of modern medicine. A disease that tests us both in terms of scientific progress as well as compassion and humanity. The study of memory mechanisms allows us to understand the nature of human identity. In addition, the discussion of memory and its disorders is not only a scientific issue, but also a social and moral necessity. During the meeting, members of the student club also introduced the club’s past path and future activities to the audience.

“The involvement of young doctors in these topics is crucial, because they will be the people who will lead research, diagnostics and patient care in the future. With such lectures, we try to arouse interest, responsibility and empathy in them. To show that behind the disease there is always a person, whose dignity and emotional state are no less important than medical outcomes,” said Ana Kiknadze.

Tbilisi Medical Academy cooperates closely with the Alzheimer’s Association of Georgia and constantly strives to disseminate scientific knowledge among students not only for the purpose of academic development, but also to establish a culture of compassion and awareness in the healthcare sector. The goal of both institutions is to create a medical community that values education, dialogue and patient-centered approaches to the management of neurodegenerative diseases.
