Student Academy Elections - For International Students

Tbilisi Medical Academy announces elections for the following positions in the Student Academy:

Chairperson of Operations - one international student who will start his/her work immediately after the election results are announced and his/her work will last until next year's elections (Year 2025).

Chairperson of student’s ethics, professionalism, and well-being - one international student who will start his/her work immediately after the election results are announced and will continue until next year's elections (Year 2025).

Number of vacant places - 2

Submission of nominations for the elections will begin on October 4, 2024, and will continue until October 18, 2024, till 6 p.m.

The Students' Academy is the name of TMA's student union, which ensures the implementation of students’ extracurricular activities, and in addition, promotes students' wellness, supports the integration of Georgian and international students, and enhances students’ leadership skills.

Detailed information about each position can be found in the Students’ Academy Regulations and By-Laws.

The elected students hold the position of head for one year, until the announcement of the next election. It is not allowed to elect the same student to the same position for 2 consecutive years, but it is allowed to elect the same student to another leadership position.

The candidate has to meet the following criteria:

  • GPA equal to or higher than 1.5
  • The candidate should have no record of disciplinary violation, otherwise, the candidate will be disqualified from the election process automatically.
  • The candidate should not have been accused of bullying or other unethical behavior.

A candidate who meets the following criteria must submit the following documentation:

1. A resume/detailed CV (describing your leadership skills, volunteering experience, and all the other information that would make the students vote for you) (not to exceed 300 words).

2. A motivational letter (what motivates you to nominate yourself to lead the Students' Academy (not to exceed 300 words).

3. Obtain 2 recommendation letters from peers from classmates or other TMA students (each letter should be at most 300 words).

4. Provide a detailed action plan for the Students' Academy for the period of the next 1 year, describing the goals and objectives for the effective work of the Student Academy and specifying the measures the candidate will offer to the Academy for achieving these goals and objectives (this document should not exceed 3 pages).

5. A photo together with the documents.

All the information about accepted candidates (bio, action plan, photo) will be posted on a website.

At the moment of the application deadline, candidates with incomplete application forms will be removed from the election process.

Late submissions will not be accepted.

Election Day:

Online elections are conducted through voting through Google Forms with students using only their TMA e-mail addresses.

The winners will be the students who will have the highest number of votes.

Election results will be considered valid only if a minimum of 10% of TMA students participate in it.

Important Dates of the Election Process:

  • The period of the registration of the candidates – October 4- 18, 2024
  • Review of registered applications by members of the Election Committee – October 21 -22, 2024.
  • Publication of eligible nominees on the website - No later than May 24, 2024
  • Election Campaign Period - October 25, 2024.
  • Election Day - October 28, 2024.
  • Announcement of the final results - October 29, 2024
