Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) students Nanuka Katchiuri and Mariam Kevkhishvili presented their research at the Young Researchers Symposium. The students were at Akkon University of Human Sciences in Berlin, Germany. The research is being carried out with the participation of German and Georgian students. Before traveling to Germany, German students also visited Tbilisi Medical Academy to work on the research project. The goal of the six-month study is to assess the knowledge, health risk perception, and practices related to air pollution and its impact on health among the population in Tbilisi.

Within the framework of the symposium, TMA students were given the opportunity to get acquainted with the research of young people from different countries around the world, share their experiences and establish new scientific and cultural connections, which will help them deepen international cooperation in the future.

“This experience has significantly broadened our perspective on research, given us new knowledge and skills, strengthened us professionally and personally, and given us even more motivation to actively continue our research activities, especially in the field of public health,” said TMA student Nanuka Katchiuri.

In parallel with the symposium, students had the opportunity to attend the Virchow Prize 2025 ceremony, which annually honors people who have made a significant contribution to global health.

In addition, TMA students participated in the World Health Summit. This is one of the most influential forums in the field of public health. The summit brings together scientists, medical experts, and policymakers from all over the world to discuss topics such as climate and health, equity, innovation, and digital medicine.
