World Patient Safety Day

World Patient Safety Day

“Get it right, make it safe!”—this is the slogan for this year's World Patient Safety Day. It emphasizes the critical importance of accurate and timely diagnosis to ensure patient safety and improve health outcomes.

But yet, why was it necessary to establish World Patient Safety Day, and why is it so important?

World Patient Safety Day was created to raise public awareness about the dangers of neglecting patient safety. It aims to develop programs that improve healthcare delivery. Additionally, events organized for World Patient Safety Day bring together governments, and local, and international organizations to form partnerships that enhance global health.

What should future doctors know about international patient safety requirements? TMA recently hosted a panel discussion on this topic, where specialists and students engaged in a relevant dialogue. Focusing on global issues like this is crucial for an academy that prepares future doctors, as TMA's mission is to serve society.

World Patient Safety Day was established by the World Health Assembly in 2019 and is celebrated annually on September 17. It is one of the 11 global health campaigns the World Health Organization supports yearly.
