Within the framework of Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) student Project; "Students for Public Health", a free hypertension screening and practical emergency care training were held in the village of Mukuzani, Gurjaani Municipality.

During the two-day training, TMA academic staff and students conducted hypertension (high blood pressure) screening, during which the local population was provided with free cardiological consultations and electrocardiography by TMA Professor Shorena Chumburidze.

The second day of the training was devoted to the study of basic first-aid skills and a practical workshop. As a result of the training, up to 50 residents benefited from the service offered by the TMA team.

The training was a part of a Project led by TMA students Mariam Jorbenadze, Nana Katchiuri, Mariam Kevkhishvili, Saba Chikobava, Elene Liluashvili, Elene Gubeladze, who were the winners of the Social and Cultural Student Projects Competition and are implementing a project that aims to improve public health in the Gurjaani region (Kakheti), in particular, to raise awareness about arterial hypertension and teach first aid skills. The project includes informational and practical activities, including hypertension screening and emergency care workshops. It also provides access to medical information for the population of Kakheti, aiming to reduce the risks of cardiovascular diseases and prevent life-threatening cases. Additionally, the project also includes a statistical study that will assess its effectiveness and may become a model for other regions.
