On the initiative of Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) student club “Community Helpers” and the head of the club, Anano Akhobadze, in collaboration with a student of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU), a workshop titled “Immunize to Protect” was held, the goal of which was to raise awareness about immunization and to disseminate correct information regarding this topic. Students from various universities attended the event. Among the attendees were students from Tbilisi State University (TSU) and Tbilisi State Medical University (TSMU).

One of the notable speakers, Mariam Kvezereli, a lecturer in immunology at TSU, spoke in detail about the immunological mechanisms of immunization. Together with her, the students provided the audience with information about the essence of vaccination, common myths, and the process by which the immune system provides protection. More importantly, topics such as the difference between vaccination and immunization, the role of memory B and T lymphocytes, antigen-presenting cells, and cytokine signals in the formation of long-term immunity were also discussed.

A TSU student discussed historical aspects, focusing on the historical development of vaccination and the impact of previous ideologies. Meanwhile, TMA student Anano Akhobadze and immunologist Mariam Kvezereli provided the audience with extensive and detailed information from a medical perspective.

The goal of the project was not only to disseminate medical knowledge but also to dispel false stereotypes and myths existing in society. Special attention was paid to the importance of collective immunity in terms of public health protection.
