Advances in Pediatric Neurosurgery

TMA hosted a student symposium titled “Advances in Pediatric Neurosurgery.”
The event brought together students and prominent neurosurgeons to discuss current issues in the field.

The symposium opened with a lecture by Dr. Archil Agladze, a practicing neurosurgeon specializing in complex pediatric neurosurgical conditions, including myelomeningocele. He is also an active contributor to neurosurgical research and medical education. His talk focused on craniosynostosis, providing a detailed clinical overview supported by cases from his surgical experience.

Among the symposium's speakers was Dr. Madonna Akhobadze, Georgia’s youngest board-certified female neurosurgeon. She is an active supporter and a trainer of international medical education and serves as the international moderator of Izmir Online Neurosurgery. Dr. Akhobadze delivered a lecture titled “When Every Second Counts: Neurosurgical Insights into Pediatric Head Trauma.” Dr. Akhobadze shared real-life cases to highlight the urgency and complexity of treating pediatric head injuries, and engaged the audience with an interactive quiz that tested clinical decision-making in time-critical scenarios.

The symposium concluded with five interactive workshops, allowing participants to explore various aspects of neurological rehabilitation through hands-on simulations. Workshop topics included: Movement Assessment – BBS demo & scoring simulation, Vision Impairment, Upper Limb Rehabilitation Techniques, Neuro Jenga – Cognitive-Motor Game, and Gait & Posture Video Analysis + Practical Assessment.

The symposium was organized by the TMA Dandy Club, in collaboration with Dandy CIU (Caucasus International University) and Dandy TSMU (Tbilisi State Medical University).
